When I was younger, I enjoyed going to the tanning bed and laying out in the sun, like we all did back then. I wanted to have a nice tan, and because of this, I never put on sunscreen as I should have.
In all reality, I didn’t start taking care of my skin until my late 20s, early 30s, though looking back, I wish I’d started much sooner and realized that skin cancer can – and does – happen.
How I Found Out I Had Squamous Cell Carcinoma
In 2017, I had a spot come up on my left cheek that was about the size of a pinky nail. It would go from camouflaging with my skin to getting really red. Then it just stayed red for four months straight and even got a flaky feel to it – like a dry patch. That’s when I knew I needed to have it checked out by a doctor.
In December of 2018, I …

What can I say? People are ready for something new, and Jeuveau™ is the first real competitor to hit the market since Botox® was released in 2002. While Botox has been the go-to for treating forehead wrinkles for so long, it’s more than exciting to finally be able to provide patients with another option.
Here’s the gist on Jeuveau
Rhyming with “hello,” Jeuveau, which received FDA approval in February of 2019, is a modern-made neurotoxin used to treat the exact same areas as Botox, including moderate to severe frown lines, or those little wrinkles between the eyebrows. Just like Botox, it prevents your nerves from telling your facial muscles to flex.
According to Evolus, the maker of Jeuveau, the product has been extensively studied in over 2,100 patients across 5 clinical studies in which patients received an average of 3 treatments over the course of one year. You can even see some of the before and …

Contrary to what many believe, you don’t have to be overweight to get a double chin. More often than not, genetics are to blame. We all have this potential pouch under our chin that starts to accumulate over time based on our genetics, so it’s really a weight-independent pocket of fat that’s predetermined before we’re born. And though it may not be your fault, that doesn’t change the fact that you don’t find it to be the most flattering characteristic when you look in the mirror.
Luckily, there are many ways to get rid of a double chin, with one very effective method being an injectable treatment called Kybella. But before you schedule your appointment, let me fill you on a few things you should know.
Kybella: The first and only injectable double chin treatment
Kybella is an injectable made up of deoxycholic acid that kills fat cells under the chin. It’s administered as a series of treatments, producing gradual results. Different physicians go about the …

There’s no doubt teenagers often neglect the basics of good skincare. From regularly washing their face to applying sunscreen before going outdoors, it’s so important to encourage them to get into these healthy habits early on. If you’re looking for the best skincare advice for your teenager, here are the dos and don’ts that will truly help keep their skin looking youthful into adulthood.
DO wash the face twice a day. One of the best things teenagers can do for their skin is to simply wash their face with a gentle cleanser twice a day – morning and night. If this routine isn’t enough, and they still have acne or problematic skin, they should see a dermatologist.
DO moisturize daily. Believe it or not, people that tend to have really oily skin are actually less likely to develop wrinkles. This means teenagers with regular to drier skin can help ward off wrinkles just by moisturizing each day.
DO use sunscreen daily. The number …
While there has long been a lack in confidence in the treatments used to tighten saggy jowls, we’re proud to be one of the only providers in the state of Alabama to offer a new innovative, nonsurgical procedure called Profound.
In the past, there have been a number of treatments that could lift the lower face and neck area; yet none of them promised the dramatic results for which patients were longing. Profound is the real deal, and because so many people hate this area that starts to sag as they get older, it really is very exciting to finally be able to provide a solution that doesn’t involve surgery.
Profound: Lifting, Volumizing and Tightening the Jowl Area
The Profound treatment uses radiofrequency to tighten, volumize and create elasticity in the skin around the jowl area by stimulating the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. For patients, this means tighter and smoother skin with increased volume.
Profound is perfect for those with:

With all the injectables and dermal fillers on the market today, it’s hard for patients to know which is really going to help them achieve their goals. From the areas they’re looking to enhance, to the amount of downtime they’re willing to spend, there are many factors that need to be taken into consideration. That’s why I’ve outlined our top three injectables below, what they’re primarily used for, and how to know if they might be right for you.
Botox – People typically get Botox to smooth the lines and wrinkles in their forehead, around their eyes, and in between their brows. While Botox is a one-time treatment, you do have to refresh it every 3 to 4 months. After the first treatment, it takes about a week for the reaction to take place, though with subsequent treatments, you’ll see the results within a couple days – three days at the most.
As for the side effects, there’s a little bit of …
