Introducing: a new way to approach your beauty regimen, designed to help you be your most beautiful self.
The GRASS Regimen is an easy way to help you identify the exact skin care products you need to be using, and when. GRASS, an acronym that stands for Growth Factor, Retinols, Antioxidants, Sunscreen and Specialty Products, is the perfect guide to start building your beauty arsenal.
With guidance, you can work with our specialist to revitalize your life, from the inside out. Let’s break down each factor to see how it influences your beauty decisions and regimens.
Growth factors are proteins that regulate cellular growth, proliferation and differentiation under controlled conditions. They play an important part in maintaining healthy skin structure and function. Growth factors communicate with your cells to create more collagen and elastin, which keep skin smooth and firm for a healthy, youthful complexion. In fact, daily use of skin care products containing growth factors are known to help reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and improve overall skin tone and texture.
To ensure proper cell growth and rejuvenation, we recommend the TNS Essential Serum. So far, it has proven to be our best product, to bring you youthful, glowing skin every day.
Retinol is simply another name for Vitamin A. When retinol and other retinoids come into contact with skin, enzymes in the body convert the retinol into retinoic acid, the active form of vitamin A. This is the special sauce that goes to work on skin cells in a variety of helpful ways. Namely, retinoic acid works to increase cell turnover, stimulate collagen and elastin production, fade hyperpigmentation, and help skin stay hydrated and glowing without irritation. Thanks to all this healthy turnover, retinol can treat and prevent everything from stubborn cystic acne and eczema to sun-induced wrinkles and dark spots.
We offer three different strengths of retinols: a .25, a .5, and a 1.0. All of our patients who have used this method of combining science with beauty, have seen effective and long-term improvements on their skin.
Oxidation occurs throughout nature. In the case of our skin, it is largely caused by the creation of free radicals at the cellular level when skin is exposed to ultraviolet light. UV rays, infrared radiation, pollution, and lifestyle factors generate damaging free radicals that prematurely age skin. The antioxidants act tby binding with the unstable electron and stopping it from attacking collagen strands and other cells of the skin’s architecture. Antioxidants provide advanced environmental protection and are clinically proven to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and promote a naturally even skin tone by neutralizing free radicals.
Besides your daily intake of antioxidants through a healthy diet, consider a SkinMedica Vitamin C + E Complex and SkinMedica Dermal Repair Cream. Both of these products are full of vitamin C and E, great for growing and maintaining healthy, glowing skin.
Sunscreens are products combining several ingredients that help prevent the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation from reaching the skin. Two types of ultraviolet radiation, UVA and UVB, damage the skin, age it prematurely, and increase your risk of skin cancer. UVB is the chief culprit behind sunburn, while UVA rays, which penetrate the skin more deeply, are associated with wrinkling, leathering, sagging, and other light-induced effects of aging. They also exacerbate the carcinogenic effects of UVB rays, and increasingly are being seen as a cause of skin cancer on their own. Sunscreens vary in their ability to protect against UVA and UVB. SPF — or Sun Protection Factor — is a measure of a sunscreen’s ability to prevent UVB from damaging the skin. Most sunscreens with an SPF of 30 or higher do an excellent job of protecting against UVB.
We also provide other specialty products that are customizable to your specific needs. For example, if you experience hyperpigmentation or brown spots, redness or acne, we have a product to address every condition.
We believe in taking care of the unique needs each individual has and teaching each patient why we recommend the products we do—what works for one or some, may not work for all.
